Day 6: Crazy day in the Badlands (Updated with pictures!)

It's late and we just spent two hours in the car while thunder and lightning rolled through. So, quick highlights from today:
Mary up at 4:15; she and I catch the sunrise before she naps again by 5:45.

Jenny makes amazing breakfast of scrambled eggs and bacon.

We tour around the Badlands by car and foot. It is awesome and beautiful and unique.

We return to Wall and visit the famous Wall Drug, conveniently located half a block from our campsite. It's insane.

We head to a 5pm Mass, with an eye on the sky once we see there's a tornado watch.

Back at camp, we get dinner ready. Again, Jenny amazes: grilled chicken pasta salad with grilled veggies. Yum. Meanwhile, we get ready to hop in our cars if thunderstorms roll through.  Sure enough, just after eating; we load into cars as it starts to rain. Thankfully, the heaviest stuff passes to the north and south of us. The skies cleared and we were treated to a magnificent sunset and most glorious full rainbow which soon became a double rainbow. It was incredible. The lightning was still lighting up the sky quite a bit, and it started raining again, so we stayed in the car. Mary fell asleep in my arms while we told Danny stories. Both were troupers!

Now, to sleep. And to hope and pray Mary stays asleep tonight. As lovely as it was, I'd prefer not to wake up in time for tomorrow's sunrise. Even though it will be our 7th anniversary.  On to Yellowstone!
