Day 2 had us doing the easy 5-hour drive from Cleveland to Chicago, and since we pass exit 77 on I-80 in Indiana, and I hadn't been to Notre Dame since the BC game in 2004, there was no way I wasn't going to stop to visit, particularly since my cynical ND family members wouldn't be forced to go with me. So, Danny, Mary, and cousin Liam (10) and I stopped for lunch at Reckers and a nice walk around campus. We were only thwarted by the mid-afternoon Friday wedding at the Basilica, so that just means we have to stop again on our way back east. :) The only other bummer was totally mis-timing the drive to Chicago and getting stuck in gross Friday afternoon traffic, made more complicated by the potty-trainee requesting a pit stop at the 90/94/290 split downtown at 5pm. We made it to our 2nd cousin's house in Wilmette by 6:45 and finally met up with Jim at our hotel at 9pm.
Quick visit to Farley Hall where I lived for 4 years
